Race Academy

The Clyde Etchells Race Academy was set-up in 2018 to knock-down barriers for younger sailors (18-25 years old inclusive) to get access to race in the Clyde Etchells fleet. A fully sponsored Etchells is now available which will be crewed exclusively by younger sailors.

Any interested young sailor can apply for the initial coaching/assessment days each April and get to understand the commitment required for a sponsored boat. A total of 4 youths are selected to helm and crew the sponsored Etchells boat for racing events, both at the Royal Gourock Yacht Club and locally on the Clyde. The remainder of successful applicants are invited to form a reserve pool of crew, in the first instance for the sponsored Etchells, and then for other Clyde Etchells fleet boats.
